A group program focusing on:

  • An on-going program for children (birth to age 6) of participants offering art and play enrichment activities and pre-literacy skill development.

This is a companion program of R.O.W.'s Family Strengths and Family Literacy Programs. While their parents participate in R.O.W. classes, their children (birth to age 6) are cared for in the Early Childhood Activity Program which goes far beyond baby-sitting services by providing an early childhood education curriculum, modeled on Project Construct curricula, that has been specifically adapted by R.O.W. to focus on the emotional needs of homeless, at-risk, and traumatized children. Art and play therapy are intermingled with pre-literacy skill development. Fully-equipped child activity rooms are available at both our city and county sites. These rooms house a full range of manipulative and sorting toys, a housekeeping and dramatic play area, a reading corner and lending library. An out-door play area is available at the city site.
